The Background

Werfen are a specialist pharmaceutical business that manufactures and develops biomaterials. They are a worldwide business with a branch based in Warrington. As part of their sustainability values, Werfen was keen to explore options of Solar PV on their roof.

The Solution

Perfect Sense Energy assessed Werfen’s site usage, taking into account working hours, peak loads and shift patterns. A 102kWp solar PV system was designed on the roof, utilising both east and west faces to maximise generation throughout the day. This solar panel system was designed using tier 1 panels with a 25-year performance warranty.

The Results & Feedback

Perfect Sense Energy installed 114 panels on the roof at Werfen. This 102.6 kWp system is expected to generate over 79,000 kWh of free, clean energy every year. This reduces their reliance on grid power and saves significant amount on energy bills. This system is expected to provide around £9,000 overall first year income and savings, with a 5 year return on investment. This system will save 30 tonnes of CO2 every year, demonstrating Werfen’s green credentials to their supply chain.
