The Background

As one of Europe’s leading multimodal logistics and transport providers, CLdN has long prioritised operational efficiency, environmental responsibility, and future-focused innovation.

With a mission to deliver reliable and sustainable solutions across their extensive network, CLdN continually seeks ways to reduce its carbon footprint while enhancing energy resilience.

As part of this decarbonisation strategy, CLdN partnered with Perfect Sense Energy to install solar PV systems at two key UK sites, Purfleet and Killingholme.

The Solution

To support CLdN’s ongoing mission to integrate sustainability into its logistics infrastructure, Perfect Sense Energy delivered three solar PV installations.

These included a 309.6 kWp solar PV system at the Purfleet Border Control Post (BCP) and a 250.5kWp solar PV system at the Purfleet Automotive Centre. We also installed a 666.9kWp system at the Killingholme (BCP) site.

The Results

The installations are already making measurable impacts across financial, operational, and environmental performance.

Across the three sites, Perfect Sense Energy’s solar PV installations have resulted in combined CO2e savings of 221.33 tonnes. The total combined energy output for year one alone was 1,109,492 kWh with monetary savings of £289,885.

Solar PV has met 25%, 37.3%, and 16.7% of Purfleet BCP, Purfleet Auto, and Killingholme site baseloads respectively. Each site has enjoyed a year one ROI of approximately 40%.
