Working in the renewable energy industry
I’ve worked in the renewable energy industry for almost three years now, predominantly in the commercial sector but have dabbled with the dark side (domestic) in the past.
It’s an industry I have very quickly become passionate about as do many of the people and companies that have been around for more than a few years.
My name is Ian Marr and I am the Head of sales here at Perfect Sense Energy.
Perfect Sense Energy is led very much from the front by the boss, Gary Brandwood who has been in the renewable energy industry for almost 12 years and in all that time Gary has been championing the cause.
His commitment is infectious and I’d like to think (well ok it’s proven) that when we talk to a potential customer or ones that have been with us since day dot we build a strong rapport from the get-go and strive to give the best and most honest advice – remember honest might not always sound the best but it’s your end goal we care about. plus It’s our job to offer guidance on best practices and warn businesses about the pitfalls to avoid.
The conversation has changed in the renewable energy industry
When first starting out in the renewable energy industry, solar PV conversations were all about money, how much? What’s my ROI? And what’s my profit after 25 years? All valid questions of course and essential when making the decision to invest.
Solar PV in my opinion has always been a “no-brainer” and one of the hardest things is to get customers to accept that. I think it’s the British in us.
The renewable energy sector forecast conversations have changed in 2021 and I think will continue to as we move into 2022.
Why, because the awareness is much greater around the damage we have done and the mechanics have been simplified into terms we can all understand making it more of a personal quandary, not just a business one.
Most importantly the end result has been highlighted and let’s face it, it’s not good no matter which way we spin it.
Solar obviously plays a huge part in repairing some of the damage and the conversations have improved, because we all are starting to understand that we need to do our bit and are more informed about how to do it.
“Purpose sits alongside the profit now which is how we like it”
What’s next for my renewable energies blogging career?
Get your seatbelts on because over the next few renewable energy blogs I’d like, first of all, to get better at writing them and then start to impart more of myself into my writing.
I’d also like to touch on a few topics such as sustainability, renewable energy technology, the hard of understanding, my first time on a big job, puns not to use when selling solar panels, and my day-to-day experiences of perfect sense energy.
Ok, you lucky lot, back to brewing up for the team, finding the office chocolate and PV Sol system designs.
I’m looking forward to hearing your feedback and if you want to know anything in particular then drop me a message and I’ll happily reply.
Merry Christmas to all and to all good nigh……what it’s only 2pm.
