The Background

Searchlight Electric are an international supplier of decorative and specialist lighting. They were founded in Manchester in 1945, and still have an office, warehouse and showroom nearby to Manchester City Centre. Searchlight enquired about Solar PV on their unit to reduce their energy costs and improve their green credentials.

The Solution

Upon reviewing the available roof area and assessing the site requirements, Perfect Sense Energy designed a bespoke 201kWp Solar PV System. This system uses tier 1 panels with a 25-year performance warranty. The system was sized to fit the electricity consumption of the site, with considerations of peak usage, shift patterns and futureproofing.

The Results & Feedback

This 201kWp system is estimated to generate over 152,000 kWh with a 78% Own Power Consumption. This equates to a total year 1 savings of over £18,500 and equates a total project payback period of just 5 years. This system will save 36 tonnes of CO2 every year, greatly demonstrating Searchlight’s carbon reduction. The power generated can be used for free in the unit and reduces reliance on grid power and rising energy costs.
