Since then, Perfect Sense Energy has developed a strong reputation offering extensive experience in assessing, identifying, designing, and delivering energy-saving and renewable energy solutions.
The CIS Tower in Manchester
As of 2022, the CIS Tower is an office skyscraper in Manchester and is the tenth-tallest building and the second-tallest office building in the UK. The tower remained as built for over 40 years until maintenance issues on the service tower required an extensive renovation, which included covering three sides of the skyscraper’s façade in solar panels.
Standing at 122 meters tall, it remains Europe’s largest vertical solar array. The electricity generated contributes to powering the building’s 25 floors where over 4,000 people work, and numerous restaurants can be found. 5,000 solar panels cover 3,200 square meters with a total output of 391kW, generating 180,000kWh of electricity.
Why is the CIS Tower significant to Perfect Sense Energy’s Exitance?
Our Managing Director Gary Brandwood used to work in the CIS Tower and was working in one of the offices when the vertical solar array was installed onto the building. In 2006, the demand for solar panels for business was relatively low, however, the CIS Tower installation sparked Gary’s interest in Solar PV. After the financial crash in 2009, Gary decided to change direction and dedicate the rest of his career to fighting climate change. Gary founded Perfect Sense Energy in 2010 and he hasn’t looked back since.
