How to tell if you have been mis sold solar panels
We as a business pride ourselves on giving the best advice and being customer-focused. It is quite disappointing yet in the same breath reassuring that we are acquiring more and more clients that have been mis sold solar panels in the UK.
It comes as no surprise that over the 12 years we have been trading, a huge range of solar panel installers have come and gone with various tales left in their wake. Being mis sold solar panels from our perspective encompasses a range of issues including but not limited to;
Being sold an oversized solar system
Not receiving regular and ongoing post-install support
So, let us run through our trifecta of mis sold solar panels and what we can do to maximize your return and smooth any headaches you may be facing.
“We have been mis sold solar panels in an oversized system!”
If you have been sold a system that is much larger than your direct business needs, it is likely a significant amount of solar energy is being exported to the grid for free. This means that there are potentially significant amounts of money that your business is missing out on from the grid.
We can support you by hereby raising and registering an export electric metre for you (if there is not one already in place), we will look at historical invoices from before and after the solar installation along with the size and expected generation of the panels installed. We can use this information to tender to our export partners and come back with a range of proposals for your exported solar energy. A process we would repeat annually for you.
“We have been mis sold solar panels and we are receiving no aftercare”
Perhaps the most common case we hear is customers that a year or two after installation, some problems may arise but there is no one at the other end of the phone to answer questions or more often there are false promises of someone attending the site to fix the issue.
We are the only solar installation company that we know of that has a dedicated O&M team, all our clients receive quarterly and annual performance reports as well as a once-a-year physical site inspection to check inverters and cables. Enough about us though, the question was ‘how can we help?’ If you have an issue after the installation that was done by someone else, we will carry out an initial inspection of the solar and then provide a full report as to:
– What’s installed
– What any of the remedial works would be, to correct those issues on site.
From that point, we would suggest entering an O&M contract with ourselves to get you covered for any future eventualities.
As mentioned previously this is not an exhaustive list of what mis sold solar panels may encompass, so if you have any issues or concerns about your existing system or a new system you are looking to have installed, please feel free to reach out and we will happily support you.
