Having recently been ranked by Trip Advisor in the top 10 tourist attractions in the UK and in the top 25 in Europe, and the best in North Wales for the last 4 years running by the local media, GreenWood Forest Park provides a family friendly day out whilst maintaining a focus on ecology and sustainability. GreenWood is installing a new water ride in 2016 and as it is constantly looking for ways to reduce its environmental impact, they decided to use a field next to the park to install a 150kWp Solar PV system which will provide over 80% of their energy needs per annum.
Planning and DNO permission were granted following a High Voltage infrastructure upgrade. We then installed a ground-mounted Solar PV system using 576 Tier 1 PV panels and inverters, supplied with 10 year product warranties and a 25 year performance warranty for the panels. The system will generate over 135,000 kWh of clean renewable energy for the site to use for free, it is forecast to pay for itself less than 5 years and will return almost £1.2m worth of financial benefits for the park over the minimum 25yr lifespan of the system. Visit our Perfect Sense Energy YouTube Channel to see the 90s time-lapse installation video.
The Results & Feedback
The result is a high performing Solar PV system that has significantly reduced the park’s reliance on grid-fed power, mitigated its exposure to future energy cost rises and further improved its educational and sustainability credentials in addition to slashing its CO2 output.
Owner Steve Bristow commented;
"We’re very pleased that we now have our own renewable energy power plant that will provide over 80% of our electrical needs - choosing Solar PV made perfect sense for us from both sustainability and financial perspectives"
