J Chandler & Co (Buckfast) – Bottling Plant – Solar PV Case Study

The Background

Buckfast Solar PV The site is a state-of-the-art bottling plant that was uses over 250,000 kWh of electricity per annum which is very common in this type of premises. The plant has a large roof area, half of which faces due South which is bathed in day-light all day every day. As the business looked at sustainable ways in which to reduce it’s overheads, they followed advice from energy industry experts and opted to install a Solar PV system to provide a proportion of their energy needs

The Solution

Following lengthy discussions with the grid operator, permission was granted for a 50kWp Solar PV system to be installed using Tier 1 Risen PV panels and a Delta RPI inverter, supplied with a 10 year product warranties and a 25 year performance output warranty for the panels. The system will generate over 44,000kWh of clean renewable energy for the business to use for free on site and is forecast to pay for itself in just over 5 years and will return more than £260,000 worth of financial benefits for the business over the minimum 25 year lifespan of the system.

The Results & Feedback

Buckfast Solar PV The result is a high performing Solar PV system that has reduced the companies reliance on grid-fed power, reduced their exposure to future energy cost rises and improved their green credentials and CO2 output. Production Director Gary Joyce commented; ‘The whole design, supply and installation process was completely painless and I would recommend Perfect Sense Energy to anyone looking for advice on reducing their energy spend.’
